LARAMIE JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER

Updated February 22, 2008

We are a member of the Union for Reform Judaism-- http://urj.org/

Founded by a group of dedicated Jewish University of Wyoming students and faculty in 1978, we are an active community group and are associated with a University Hillel group. We live in Laramie, Wyoming. Since it has no permanent location, the LJCC holds its activities in community or church facilities and private homes.

Celebrations/Events:

We usually hold shabbat services once a month.

Each fall the LJCC sponsors High Holy Day service on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, usually conducted by a student rabbi.

Holiday celebrations are held for Chanukah and Purim. One of the big highlights of the year is the community Passover seder.

Joyous community gatherings include Bar and Bat Mitzvah services. Periodically, religious education including instruction in Hebrew and adult torah study groups are held.

At the end of the summer we have a picnic. This gives new people to the community a chance to meet members of the Laramie Jewish Community Center.
